About Mitti
Mitti means soil. It’s where roots take hold and growth begins. For us, it’s a reminder that meaningful change—within people, organizations, and systems—starts below the surface.
We started Mitti with a simple belief: that transformation is not something delivered from the outside, but something cultivated from within. Change takes root when people have the space to pause, reflect, and reorient—and when they are supported to work through complexity, not around it. Our mission is to create that space.
We work with individuals and organizations at inflection points—navigating strategic shifts, cultural questions, or personal transitions—and seeking a more grounded, thoughtful way forward. What connects our work across these varied contexts is a commitment to depth over speed, process over prescription, and partnership over expertise alone.
With nearly two decades of experience across sectors and geographies, we bring a strong foundation in leadership, organizational change, and adult development. But we don’t arrive with ready-made answers. Every engagement is shaped in partnership, grounded in the lived realities, histories, and aspirations of the people we work with. We pay close attention to what’s actually happening: the identities people carry, the cultures they move through, the unspoken assumptions that shape their choices. At Mitti, we don’t treat transformation as a single event. It’s something that takes root over time—through reflection, relationship, and the conditions that allow people and systems to grow.
Our Core Beliefs
These beliefs sit at the heart of how we work—shaping our choices, our partnerships, and our approach to change.
01
Transformation grows from within

Real, lasting change isn’t imposed—it’s cultivated. It begins when people and organizations are given space to reflect, realign, and move forward with clarity.
02
Depth over speed

We resist the pull toward fast answers. We hold space for the discomfort, the questions, and the deeper work that sustainable change requires.
03
Change is relational

We have learned that real progress happens when people are connected—when trust, honesty, and mutual respect are present in the work.
04
Context shapes everything
We don’t bring one-size-fits-all solutions. Every engagement is grounded in your unique culture, history, and aspirations.

People
Mitti is a boutique practice.

While Mitti remains a boutique practice by design, we are not building this alone. Over time, it’s growing into a collaborative space, a practice ground for facilitators, coaches, and leaders who are committed to creating learning environments where people don’t have to leave parts of themselves at the door.
From the beginning, our work has been shaped through deep collaboration with fellow educators, systems thinkers, and practitioners who bring their own clarity, insight, and integrity. These relationships have been foundational to how Mitti has grown—and continue to stretch our thinking, enrich our programs, and bring texture to everything we do.
We don’t claim to have all the answers. But we care deeply about how we sit with the questions which is where the work begins. If this kind of approach resonates with you, or if you are curious about what it might look like to collaborate, host a conversation, or explore coaching, we would love to be in dialog.
Founder & Practice Lead

Dr. Stuti Shukla designs spaces where leaders can pause, reflect, and grow, so that they are not just reacting to complexity, but leading through it. Her work blends inquiry, practice, and a deep belief in the potential of people and systems to transform. Stuti has over two decades of experience across sectors and geographies, and brings a deep understanding of what it takes to lead in times of uncertainty and change. She leads Mitti Leadership Consulting, a small practice she founded to support mission-driven leaders and organizations around the world. Her work spans adaptive leadership, feedback-rich cultures, identity and power, and supporting women in navigating authority with clarity and intention. Stuti has worked with founders and CXOs, senior leadership teams, youth fellows, and social change leaders, designing everything from short intensives to long-term leadership journeys.
As a trained Co-Active coach, Stuti works one-on-one with leaders to surface internal narratives, expand their leadership range, and reconnect with what truly matters to them. Her coaching supports leaders in slowing down, listening inward, and making more conscious choices, especially in moments when the stakes are high or the path feels unclear.
Stuti’s Doctoral research at Harvard explored how organizations can harness the transformative potential of developmental feedback at scale. Through an in-depth organizational ethnography, she looked closely at what it takes to move feedback beyond evaluation—toward learning, trust, and growth. She also co-created and co-taught Leadership from the Inside-Out, a flagship Harvard course that integrates adaptive leadership, political psychology, and identity work. She is currently co-authoring a book based on the course and serves as a Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard Kennedy School. Earlier in her career, Stuti worked as a grassroots mobilizer and held senior roles in India’s education sector, including as a founding member of India’s first public education leadership initiative. That experience continues to inform her enduring commitment to equity, learning, and systemic transformation.
Stuti holds a Doctorate and Master’s in Education from Harvard University, and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. She serves on the Board of an independent school in the area.
Stuti lives in the greater Boston with her husband, daughter, and bernedoodle.
